Every year Camp Seymour provides thousands of students with the opportunity to explore ecosystems, understand natural resources, and improve their outdoor and group building skills. We are seeking dedicated individuals to create a positive outdoor experience for all.

Outdoor and Environmental Educators
Employment dates: August 26, 2024 - June 13, 2025

Benefits: $90-$100 per day starting plus room, board, paid sick leave, end-of-season bonus, and YMCA membership. Hourly positions living off-site are available as well - please inquire.

Duties: As a YMCA Camp Seymour Outdoor and Environmental Educator, you would be part of an inclusive and collaborative team working to provide quality programming to a diverse student population in the areas of natural science, outdoor skills, environmental stewardship and social awareness. Camp Seymour's site spans 160 acres of beautiful Northwest forest and a half mile of Puget Sound beach habitat. We offer classes in marine science, squid dissection, reptiles, forest investigation, sustainable systems, teambuilding, canoeing, orienteering, zip line, climbing wall, and many more. Educators teach classes; lead large group and evening activities; lead off site outreach classes with youth; host meals; help maintain program areas and care for program animals.

Qualifications: Staff model the YMCA core values of respect, caring, honesty and responsibility. We seek individuals dedicated to providing today's youth with positive, outdoor experiences. Required qualifications include a displayed ability to maintain a positive work attitude, a college degree or two years' experience in a related field, and a First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Favorable qualifications include Lifeguard certification and experience with the BEETLES project. Paid training is provided in all aspects of the curriculum, program activities and emergency response. Opportunities for additional professional development, including Lifeguard certification, are offered throughout our season. Outdoor and Environmental Education Outreach Instructor - Part Time

Part-Time OEE Outreach Instructor
Beyond the Bell Program in Tacoma, WA

Employment dates: Ongoing during the school year.
Salary: $18/hour. Paid internships if under 21 years of age.

Duties: As an OEE Outreach Instructor in the Beyond the Bell Program you would be part of an inclusive and collaborative team working to provide quality programming to a diverse student population in the areas of natural science, outdoor skills, environmental stewardship and social awareness. Educators will typically work independently from 3:00-6:00 pm Monday-Thursday running after-school programming at a local Tacoma Elementary School. Educators teach classes ranging from squid dissection, geology, ornithology, reptiles, sustainable systems, teambuilding, orienteering, and many more. Paid training provided.

Qualifications: Staff model the YMCA core values of respect, caring, honesty and responsibility. We seek individuals dedicated to providing today's youth with positive, outdoor experiences.
