Haley Hesselberg

Hello, my name is Haley Hesselberg. I am 24 years old, and I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. I graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 2018 with a degree in Environmental Education and Interpretation. From there, I moved to Colorado to work at a camp for people with special needs and then on to North Carolina to work at the Aquarium at Fort Fisher. I grew up loving the outdoors and sharing my passion with others! I love to camp, hike, fish, hunt, kayak, and hammock. I am so excited to start this new adventure in the Pacific North West and explore new ecosystems!

Jose Sandoval

My name is Jose Sandoval. I was raised in a small town in California’s Central Valley and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering. I recently discovered a passion for teaching and education and am looking forward to being a part of this team.

Sam Park

Sam Park

My name is Sam, and I am super excited to be at Camp Seymour this year! I grew up in Virginia Beach and studied Environmental Geology at the University of Mary Washington. I love the ocean and moved to the PNW to settle the west coast vs. east coast debate for myself. I worked for the Forest Service for two seasons in Colorado before moving to Washington, and I’m looking forward to exploring a new area of the country!

Patrick Wilson

Hello! I'm Patrick Wilson, and I am 24 years old. I'm originally from Indiana, and this is my first year at Camp Seymour. I have worked at other summer camps, and I'm excited to experience all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer! I know a ton of camp songs, riddles, activities, and facts about nature. Ask me anything. I'm an open book and love to teach as much as I love to learn.

Dawson Bell

Hi, my name is Dawson Bell. I studied Environmental Science and Management with an emphasis in Ecology, Biodiversity, and Conservation and a minor in Religious Studies. For some reason, when I tell people this at parties, they blink a lot and change the subject. I’ve worked as a backpacking guide, a ski instructor, an outdoor educator, and have been paid to hike around and count sticks. I grew up in a small town in northern California, but I look forward to exploring Washington! In my free time, I write songs, hike, travel, read, and find bodies of water to jump in. I received a Gold Star for attendance at Parkside Elementary.

Liz Sullivan

Howdy! My name is Liz. I grew up in the midwest, but I have always been drawn to the mountains! My dad taught me how to love nature and all things outdoors. In college, I studied recreation and tourism with a focus on nature-based tourism. When I wasn't studying the outdoors, I spent my time hiking, camping, rock climbing, and trying to keep my plants alive. After finishing my classes, I got the opportunity to hide away in the bluffs and work as a Summer Camp Naturalist at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center. That job taught me that vultures are intelligent, strainers are dangerous, and that I love teaching! I am not sure if the bluffs have prepared me for the mountains but, I am excited to learn and grow in this new mysterious land!

Emily Brown

Emily Brown

Hello! My name is Emily, and I'm very excited to join the naturalist team this year! I grew up in Massachusetts, but I moved all the way across the country last year after graduating from UMass Amherst. Driven by my fascination of nature at a young age, I studied Environmental Science and Geography in college with a focus on pollination ecology. This allowed me to spend several summers researching and chasing native bees in Massachusetts, Greece, California, and most recently the prairies of western Washington. Aside from nerding out over plants and insects, I enjoy hiking around the Pacific Northwest's giant forests and mountains, playing the fiddle, and traveling to far-off lands.

Michael Wilson

My name is Michael and I've never seen the Pacific Ocean, except in the very real nightmares I've been having for the past two months! I come from Indiana and received my B.A. in English and Creative Writing from Indiana University. Aside from book stuff I love walking around wooded areas, imitating heron sounds and sitting in cafes for long periods of time. I think opossums are the perfect animal, I move mountains so as not to be late to Board Game Night™, and over the years I've slowly perfected the art of transforming into a large, semi-sentient lizard.

Fatima Cooper

I am from South Carolina. I ended up working at Camp Seymour because of what I refer to as "a prayer and a few button clicks." And even though I wasn't sure back then if I'd like it, this camp has become home. I'm obsessed with animals, especially dogs. I enjoy learning languages and hope to regain fluency in the ones I once knew.

Michelle Malcolm

My name is Michelle Malcolm, I am 24 years old, and I’m from the overpopulated state of New Jersey. I have three siblings, one dog, and one cat back home. I graduated from college in 2016 studying Recreational Therapy, but if I could go back to school now I would study Environmental Science. I have been working with children in different settings since I was a young teen. I enjoy working with people and animals, being outdoors, taking pictures, and learning new things. Some of my favorite pastimes are camping/backpacking, eating good food, spending time with family and friends, and picking up litter. I’m super excited to spend this next school year here in Washington teaching children about our incredible environment.

Ben Williams

Hello my name is Ben Williams, I am a Washington local hailing from Port Angeles. I went to school at WWU for environmental education and environmental science. I am a big nerd, nature, science, video games, sci-fi, fantasy all that good stuff. I enjoy the company of orange juice, burritos, ants and turtles. In my free time I like to read, play basketball, video games, board games and backpacking.

Katie E_2018

Katie Eskridge

I grew up in San Diego, CA and have had a love for the ocean since a young age. I studied marine biology at Oregon State (Go Beavs!). Girl Scout camp and family camping trips were a big part of my childhood and college years. After college, I didn't want to stop working at camp so I looked into outdoor education. Seymour is the third OEE camp I've worked at and this will be my second year here. I can't wait to continue sharing my love of nature with this year's campers! Outside of camp my interests include: board games, comics, ice skating, marine life, birds, adventuring in new places, and photography.
