Frequently asked questions
What kind of work will I do? It depends on your staff position, but you'll likely be involved with camp at many levels teaching classes, helping campers, organizing events. In a senior staff position, you'll supervise and support other staff, as well as taking care of your own responsibilities. In support positions (such as Van Driver or Outfitter) you'll help others and make sure camp runs smoothly.
Do I live at camp? Yep, all of our positions are residential. Just think, no rent or food to pay for the whole summer!
What ages of campers are at camp? Resident Camp is for campers aged 6-14. We have Teen Outpost Trips (backpacking, canoeing, caravans, etc.) for campers age 13-18, and Teen Leadership Programs (also for campers age 13-18).
How long do campers come to camp for? The youngest campers (2nd and 3rd grade) come for 4 days at a time. Older campers (3rd to 5th grade) come for one week. The oldest Resident Campers stay for two weeks at a time.
What is the pay like? It depends on your position. The average pay for a Senior Cabin Leader is about $2050 for the summer (about 9 weeks.) Senior Staff positions (like Unit Leader, Pool Director, etc.) earn more, as do Trip Leaders and support staff positions (like Van Driver and Outfitter).
What is the average day at camp like? For a cabin leader, you'll get up with your kids for a morning dip or jog through camp, followed by Morning Inspiration (an all-camp morning activity). After breakfast, there is camp and cabin cleanup, followed by Cabin Time (your chance to do something fun with your campers!). Then comes morning Camptivity, where you'll have a chance to teach canoeing, archery, or another skill to a group of campers. Lunch follows, then some quiet time in the cabin. Afternoon Camptivity comes next, followed by a snack, then Open Activities time. When that is over, you'll have dinner, followed by two more activity times – maybe some fun ballfield games, then a campfire. When everyone heads back to their cabin, you'll do a quiet activity with your kids before they go to bed. Senior staff positions follow a similar schedule, though activities vary.
How about time off? You bet! Each staff gets a 23-hr. day off each week, one night off and one night out a week, and two hours off per day. Back to top
