Winter Camp

Adventures for life. Lifelong Adventure.

Winter Camp Program

Winter Camp is a fun mix of outdoor and indoor activities at YMCA Camp Seymour – like summer camp, but colder! Each day includes cabin group activities, all camp events, and camper’s choice time. Winter is a great season to experience camp, participate in creative programs, and make new friends. There are opportunities only offered at Winter Camp – don’t miss it!

Some of the Winter Camp activities include:

· Boating, archery, the bouldering wall, crafts

· Campfires and skits

· Winter Beach Exploration

· Special Murder Mystery Dinner - with special staff guests

· Contributing to the centennial time capsule

· Group games

· Theme meals – like using crazy utensils

· Hot chocolate and warm fires in the Dining Hall!

Isn’t Seymour a Summer Camp?

Yes! We have a large summer camp program, but are also a year-round winterized facility, serving school groups, retreats and family camps.

Campers sleep on bunks in comfortable, heated cabins, and enjoy great family-style meals.

“I was impressed especially with how nice the cabins were and how the grounds were—just lovely and with lots of opportunity for fun. The kids really liked getting to meet new people and the activities. They loved the food!” -Camper parent

Who comes to Winter Camp?

Winter Camp is for kids in grades 3-8 who, “can’t wait until summer to go to Seymour!” It is a great way to energize your vacation, make new friends, and have fun at camp.

Returning campers: See friends and staff from last summer! Perhaps you want to bring a friend and introduce them to your camp!

New campers: Try camp for a few days and discover how much fun it is! Then come for a whole week next summer!

A Trusted Tradition

A part of youth camping since 1905, our programs are based on YMCA values and nurture campers in a fun, supportive environment. Campers’ safety and well-being are the staff’s utmost concerns. Our American Camp Association accreditation indicates that we meet or exceed industry standards in key areas, including staff training, health and safety, program, food service and site management.

Winter Camp is staffed by summer counselors selected for their maturity, experience, and demonstrated interest in working with youth.
